General
What areas do you cover?
British Columbia. Our office is in Surrey and we work across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley every day: Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, Langley, Delta, New Westminster, White Rock, Maple Ridge, and the rest — and we deploy to sites elsewhere in the province. If you're not sure you're in range, ask us.
Can you handle guards and cameras and alarms, or just one?
All of it, and that's the point of how we're built. We provide the guards and K9, and we design, install, and monitor the camera, alarm, and access-control systems. Most companies do one side or the other and leave you to coordinate the rest. We don't.
What industries do you work with?
Construction, corporate and commercial, retail, warehousing and logistics, residential and strata, supportive and social housing, and events. We also do fire watch. Supportive and social housing is a real focus for us, because our guards are trained in de-escalation and that's exactly what those sites need.
Are you hiring?
Usually, yes. We train our own people in-house and there's a real path from guard to supervisor. See the Careers page for open roles.
Can clients see the reports from their own site?
Yes. Clients get a login to view their site's patrol logs and incident reports, so you can see what happened and when without waiting for a monthly summary. Contact us when you set up service and we'll arrange reporting access for your site.
Guards & licensing
Are your guards licensed?
Yes. Every guard holds a valid BC security worker licence, and Guard Nation is licensed as a security business under BC's Security Services Act (Lic. #B5950). We're fully insured. If you ever want to confirm a licence, we're happy to show you.
K9 detection
Do you really run your own K9 units?
Yes. Our canine teams are trained for explosives detection and narcotics detection, and they work handler-led for events, venues, schools, and higher-risk sites. These are detection dogs. They screen and search areas and belongings; they're not there to chase or confront anyone.
Cameras, alarms & monitoring
Do you offer 24/7 monitoring?
Yes, in two forms. Our own team watches cameras live, and alarm signals are handled by our ULC-listed monitoring partner. The difference with us is what happens next: an alert can end with a Guard Nation guard or K9 team actually going to the site, not just a phone call.
What camera and system brands do you install?
Axis, Hanwha (Wisenet), Ajax, Verkada and Turing cameras, Ubiquiti UniFi for networking, Ajax and DSC intrusion alarms — with DSC, Bosch or Honeywell where a ULC-listed system is required, and ICT, Brivo, Kantech, and CDVI for access control. We name our brands because we stand behind them, and we'll tell you honestly which one fits your site instead of selling you whatever's on the shelf.
What does "ULC-listed" mean, and why should I care?
ULC-listed is the recognized Canadian standard for alarm monitoring stations. It means the monitoring meets a tested bar for reliability, backup power, and response procedure. For a commercial site, insurers and some contracts specifically want ULC-listed monitoring, so it's worth checking that whoever monitors your alarm actually has it.
Can you take over cameras or alarms I already have?
Often, yes. A lot of sites already have equipment that nobody's watching or that's dropping offline. We can assess what you've got, service or monitor it where it makes sense, and only replace what actually needs replacing.
Pricing & billing
How much does security cost?
It depends on the site, the hours, and what mix of guards, K9, and technology you need, so we don't publish a rate card that would be wrong for half the people reading it. The one number we do publish: self-installed Ajax monitoring starts from $24.95 CAD/month, month-to-month. For everything else we do a free assessment and a written quote, so the number you get is for your site, not an average.

Neither the phone nor the inbox drops you into a queue — you reach one of ours, right here across British Columbia, not a national call-centre in another province.
