Always-On Monitoring That Ends in Someone Showing Up

Alarm and fire signals watched around the clock through the ULC-listed monitoring station we partner with, with verified Guard Nation response instead of a phone call and a shrug.

Month-to-month isn't a promotion — it's the incentive structure. A provider on a multi-year contract gets paid whether or not your cameras can still see at night. We'd rather keep the pressure on us.

How it works

1

Connect

Your alarm and fire signals are wired to the ULC-listed monitoring station we partner with.

2

Signals are monitored around the clock, every hour of every day.

3

Verify

On an activation, our own patrol can check what actually tripped it.

4

Respond

A genuine intrusion or fire event gets the right response on its way.

Watched at the hour it matters

Your alarm can only help you if someone's paying attention at the moment it goes off, and that moment is almost always the middle of the night, a long weekend, or the one week you're away. Your alarm and fire signals are watched 24 hours a day through the ULC-listed monitoring station we partner with. ULC-listed is the recognized standard for monitoring stations in Canada, and it's the bar you should be looking for, because it means the monitoring meets a real quality and reliability standard rather than someone's best effort.

What comes after the signal

A typical monitored alarm reports the event, makes a call, and stops there. Ours can put a Guard Nation mobile patrol on your site to see what actually tripped it. Most alarm activations aren't break-ins — a wind-blown door, a delivery, a sensor that needs adjusting — and having our own patrol verify the cause keeps you from paying false-alarm fines and keeps the police free for real emergencies. When it is a genuine intrusion, you've already got our people on the way.

We can take over your existing monitoring

We also handle fire signal monitoring through the same ULC-listed monitoring station, so a fire or life-safety alarm gets the same around-the-clock attention as an intrusion. And if your alarm was installed by a company that's since gone quiet, we can usually take over the monitoring on your existing system rather than replacing it — monitoring that ends in a guard on scene, connected to the same team that provides your guards and cameras.

In depth

24/7 Alarm & Fire Monitoring, in depth.

ULC-listed isn't a marketing phrase — it's a certification that Underwriters Laboratories of Canada grants to monitoring stations that pass, and keep passing, audits against a published standard. A listed station has to prove redundant power and communications so a storm or an outage doesn't take the monitoring down with it, staffing levels that guarantee a human is on the signals every hour of every day, and documented procedures for how each alarm type gets handled from the moment it lands. Stations that can't sustain that lose the listing.

Why insurers pay attention

That audit trail is why insurers pay attention. Many insurers offer discounts for professionally monitored systems, and some commercial policies set monitoring requirements as a condition of coverage. We can't speak for your policy, but it's a question worth putting to your broker — and if the answer comes back "we need a certificate from the monitoring station," that's exactly the paperwork our arrangement can produce.

How our setup actually works

Here's how our setup actually works, stated plainly: the monitoring itself runs through the ULC-listed monitoring station we partner with, and the response runs through our own Guard Nation team. That split is a strength, not a footnote. A ULC-listed monitoring station is built to receive, verify, and dispatch signals to an audited standard — that's its whole job. A response team is built to put a trained person on your site fast. We didn't bolt a call centre onto a patrol company or a patrol onto a call centre; each layer does what it's built for, and we coordinate both.

And the terms are the product. Monitoring is month-to-month — no three-year contract, no annual app fee, no cancellation games. If we stop earning your business, you stop paying us, that month. We think monitoring should be judged on whether someone shows up when the alarm goes off, not on how hard the contract makes it to leave.

Buyer help

What to ask about monitoring

Is the station ULC-listed? In Canada, that's the standard. If you can't get a straight answer, keep asking.

What happens after the call? Reporting the alarm and dispatching someone to verify it are two very different services. Know which one you're buying.

Who verifies false alarms? A patrol that checks the cause protects you from fines and keeps a real event from being ignored as "probably nothing."

Fire and life-safety are their own thing. If you need fire signals monitored, confirm the station is listed for it, not just for intrusion.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

What does ULC-listed monitoring mean for my insurance?

ULC-listed means the monitoring station is certified by Underwriters Laboratories of Canada and audited against a published standard for redundancy, staffing, and alarm handling. Separately, many insurers offer discounts for professionally monitored systems, and some commercial policies set monitoring requirements as a condition of coverage. Two questions worth putting to your broker: does my policy discount professional monitoring, and does it require a certificate from the station? If it does, our monitoring arrangement can produce one.

Am I locked into a contract?

No. Our monitoring is month-to-month with no annual app fee and no cancellation penalty. You can cancel anytime, and you stop paying that month. We'd rather keep your business by responding well than by making the contract hard to escape. Self-installed Ajax monitoring starts from $24.95 CAD/month, month-to-month, with no annual app fee.

Can you monitor a system another company installed?

Usually, yes. If your installer has gone quiet — or you just want better monitoring behind the system you already own — we can typically move the monitoring account over rather than replacing anything. From then on your signals report to the ULC-listed monitoring station we partner with, on our month-to-month terms, with Guard Nation response behind them. For the hardware side — which panels take over cleanly and which come locked — our System Takeovers & Upgrades service covers the full process.

What's the difference between alarm monitoring and live video monitoring?

Alarm monitoring watches the signals from your alarm system — when a sensor trips, the ULC-listed monitoring station we partner with receives it and the response process starts. Live video monitoring is our own operators actively watching your cameras in real time, with live audio talk-down. They solve different problems and work well together — construction sites, for example, often pair monitored alarms with solar cameras and patrol for full after-hours coverage. If you want human eyes on your site rather than on its sensors, see our live video monitoring page.
