Who we are

Guard Nation Security Solutions Inc. (“Guard Nation Security”, “we”, “us”) operates this website from 406-8318 120 Street, Surrey, BC V3W 3N4. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it under the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) (“PIPA”).

What we collect

Almost everything we hold is information you chose to send us. There are three ways that happens:

• Quote, contact, and takeover forms: your name, email address, phone number, company name, location, and the message you write to us.
• Job applications: if you apply through our careers pages, we collect your name, email address, phone number, whether you are authorised to work in Canada, your security licence and driver’s licence details, your availability, and anything you write in your cover letter. If you upload them, we also receive your résumé and photographs of the front and back of your driver’s licence. We ask for licence images to confirm eligibility for roles that require driving or licensing. You do not have to upload them to contact us about work.
• Direct contact: your email address or phone number when you email or call us directly.

Cookies and advertising

If you arrive from an online advertisement, we store a first-party cookie (“gn_attr”) for 90 days recording which campaign or link brought you here. If you later submit a form, that record is attached to your enquiry so we can tell which advertising is worth paying for. It holds campaign details only — never your name or contact details.

We measure how the site is used, in two ways. The first is a first-party service that sets no cookie at all and counts page views and form submissions in aggregate; it is served from this domain and cannot follow you to other websites. The second is Google Analytics, which does set cookies and does send information about your visit — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser — to Google. We use it to understand which pages help people and which do not.

We have turned off the advertising features of Google Analytics. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, we do not enable ad personalisation or remarketing, and we do not share it with advertising networks. There are no social-media trackers, advertising pixels, or third-party trackers of any other kind on this site.

If you would rather not be measured at all, most browsers let you block cookies for a site, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere. Blocking either one does not affect anything on this website. We also store your display-theme choice in your own browser; that never reaches us.

Why we collect it

Enquiries are used to respond to you and provide a quote or information about our services. Applications are used to assess you for the role you applied for and to contact you about it, and to meet the licensing and eligibility checks security work requires. We do not use either for anything else.

Who else sees it

We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing, and we do not send you marketing you did not ask for.

We use service providers to run our business, and information you send us is held in their systems on our behalf. We choose them for the job they do, and we may change a provider when a better one suits us. Whoever they are, the rules do not change: they may use your information only to provide that service to us, never for their own purposes, and we remain responsible for it. This is who they are today:

• Zoho — our customer-relationship and recruitment systems. Receives enquiries and job applications, held on Zoho's Canadian service.
• Our website hosting and database providers — running this website and storing what you send through it. Receives form submissions and uploaded files.
• Vercel — measuring how the site is used. Receives page views and form submissions counted in aggregate, with no cookie and nothing that identifies you.
• Google — Google Analytics, which measures how the site is used. Receives information about your visit — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser. It does not receive your enquiry, your application, or any file you upload.
• Sentry — recording technical errors so we can fix them. Receives the technical details of an error — the page, the browser, and the fault itself. It is deliberately configured not to collect personal information, and it does not record your screen.

Where your information is held. Your enquiry, your job application and any file you upload are held in Canada. Website usage and technical error information is processed outside Canada, including in the United States, by Google and Sentry — where it may be accessible to foreign courts and authorities under the laws of those countries.

Beyond that, we disclose personal information only where we are required by law — for example under a court order or a regulator’s lawful demand.

How we protect it

Information is sent to us over an encrypted connection. Uploaded files, including licence images, are stored with restricted access, and only the people who need them to do their job can reach them.

Retention

We keep enquiries only as long as needed to handle them, and afterwards only to the extent required for ordinary business records. Applications are kept while we consider you and for a reasonable period afterwards in case another suitable role comes up. If you would like your application and uploaded documents deleted sooner, ask us and we will delete them.

Your rights under PIPA

Under PIPA you have the right to ask us what personal information of yours we hold, how it has been used, and to whom it has been disclosed. You also have the right to ask us to correct any error or omission in it. To exercise either right, contact us using the details below and we will respond within the timelines PIPA sets out.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Governing law
